Nigeria defender Taye Taiwo will not be suspended for Nigeria's opening game of the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifiers despite being sent off in Wednesday's friendly against Jamaica.
Taiwo was dismissed along with the Reggae Boyz forward Jermaine Johnson and there were worries that the bestial Olympic Marseille full back would be suspended for Nigeria's next official game, which is the World cup qualifier against Mozambique.
But Art 38 Section 2g of the FIFA Disciplinary Code states that sanctions for friendly matches are only 'carried over to the representative team's next friendly match'.
Taiwo is thus free to be involved against the Mambas in March, despite his midweek indiscretion.
