flying eagles team profile

the Flying Eagles are built around the team from the Fifa U-17 World Cup in Korea.

From that teams comes skipper Lukman Haruna, Rabiu Ibrahim, Kingsley Udoh, Macauley Chrisantus and Gani Oseni. All these players now ply their trade in Europe.

Several promising youngsters from the domestic championship like Samuel Tswanya, Sunday Abe and Gbolahan Salami also have a chance to move overseas with this tournament serving as the platform.
Nigeria is gunning for a record sixth title after they lost in the final of the last edition to Congo in 2007 in Brazzaville.

Coach Ladan Bosso has come severe criticisms despite the fact that the Flying Eagles were unbeaten in the qualifiers against Senegal and Sudan.

Speculations were rife that he might have been fired before the tournament, but survived those reports.

It is believed that his performance with the Flying Eagles during the FIFA World u-20 World Cup in Canada in 2007, where the Eagles reached the last eight, was a motivating factor for his continual at the helm.
