The Nigerian teams(the super eagles, dream team IV, u-21, u 17) in 2008

The year started with a disastrous outing by the
Super eagles during the GHANA 2008 Nations cup,
Which most Nigerians including me would like to Forget.
The end result was the sacking of berti vogts as the
National team coach, and a new name was given to
The team by the press (Mamadou Gaye) as “SUPER
CHICKENS”.

A new coach (Amodu shuiabu), was appointed by the
Nigerian Football Association (NFA), whose first match against the Austrians the team drew.

During the qualifies the team posted a superlative performance, wining six matches, and conceding only one goal.

The draws for the final stage for qualifiers for Angola and South Africa 2010 took place in Zurich, Switzerland, and Nigeria was grouped alongside Tunisia, Kenya, and Mozambique.

During the Olympics football event, the dream team IV under the guidance of coach Samson Siasia showed the world the stuff they are made of, but unfortunately they lost to Argentina by 1 – 0 (scored by angel di Maria).

The U – 21 team, basically made of the U – 17 world conquering team in 2007 qualified for the world championship to be hosted by Egypt, while the U – 17 could not leave up to the reputation set by their predecessors, by failing to qualify for the African championship.

This year, I pray that the super eagles will qualify for Angola 2010 nation’s cup, and the Fifa 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and both the u – 21 & u -17 will perform very well in their various competitions Amen.
